Journey

Hello again,
Yep, two post in a day. Hope you like them both :)

I fell in love with this sketch from Get Creative challenge blog. Here's the object of my affection :)

The huge circle is stunning, right? I decided to play. And here's my take:

I have a funny story back when my brother was born, 1983. It's when the picture on my page was taken. My brother, ofcourse, is a boy. But at that time, I was only 2 years old, I have a strong faith that he's a she. So I gave her the nickname "Heidi" from my favorite bedtime story about an orphan young lady. I dream that later in life my brother will have a long black hair, soft voice, and we went to school together as sisters. It was my dream. In fact, I have a brother who plays robots and wearing Batman costume. But the nickname I gave him, stays until today. Yey!!

To remember that funny days, I made a page about my little brother in pink delicate colors. He must be maaaaddd to me....LOL! Yes, he grows up into a young man with beard, deep-hard voice and tattoo. This pink page, definitely NOT him. I live my dream with this page :)

Some pinky details
That's me, starring at my newborn brother (which I'm sure he's a girl that time).

Prima flowers, local manufacturer's leaves and doilies.

Hand-stitch with SewEasy and knitting yarn.

Tattere Angel's glimmer mist on Crafter's Workshop template.

MME's Follow Your Heart paper series. Love the delicate colors :)

My favorite part of this page: The title. I put Tim Holtz's Idea-ology philosophy tag. It written: Journey. That day, my brother's journey of life begins. A journey that makes him a tough MAN, not woman, of course :) See you next week, fellas. Take care.

And it seems that sketch at  Sassy Scrappers May challenge has a little bit similarity with GC. I feel the same fun! So I also enter my work for them. Hope it's fine :)

Beautiful life

Happy Sunday crafty fellas,
As always my weekend filled with crafty moments. And I'm sure you do the same no matter where you live around the globe, am I right? :)

One "new" thing I realize this week: I am a rare species. I bet most of you doing scrapbooking activity with this passion: To give a unique memorabilia to your children. You scrap about your son's first smile, your daughter's first step, your third child's first tooth, or your grandson's first day at school. And I enjoy looking all your works. I feel your love on your page.

But what about me? Yes I am a married woman. But, me and my husband have decided not to have our own kid(s). Maybe someday we will adopt one or two unfortunate children. But it still looooong way to go. Not now. So, no kids means no grandkids and no great-grand kids. That makes me a rare species, right? I am a childless scrapbooker :)

So what to scrap? Absolutely my own beautiful life. My vacations, my cats and dog, my family, my husband, my home, my daily life, even my cup of coffee or any tiny piece of beauty I see. Scrapbook is my visual diary. Of everything.

Just like this page:
For some (or most) people, holding hands with spouse is a common gesture. But when we took a picture of two people holding hands or holding something together, it can be sweet and wonderful. One day, we went to an old ice cream restaurant. I simply enjoy our togetherness and the yummy ice cream. And our both hands holding the menu together, turns out to be a lovely photo to scrap :)

That's our hands :) Mine on the left with lots of bracelet and my hubby on my right, also wearing bracelet...LOL.

I use KaiserCraft's Sweet Nothing papers and stamp, Prima flowers, ribbon and doilies from local manufacturer. Here some close-ups:

I try to make a "beautiful" page with flowers and butterflies. I'm trying to say that I have a beautiful life. I have everything to be thankful. And my scrapbook pages are about my everyday life full of blessing :)

Thank you for looking and reading. Have a wonderful life, fellas :)

All smiles

Happy Thursday. It means another week on Sketches in Thyme challenge. We are now launching sketch #79. It’s a double page layout but you may convert to a single page. Just like my take :)
Here’s the sketch and my layout:

A little story behind the pict:
Every Saturday, some main roads in Jakarta are closed for motor-vehicle. We call it “Car-free day.” For about seven hours, no cars allowed to pass. People of Jakarta spend morning until afternoon to ride on bike, jogging, play football, held bazaar, aerobic, or just walking around and have breakfast. Yes, all those activity took place on the main roads. We are free from traffic jam and hectic vehicle.

On these pictures, as you can see, we were so sooooo happy. Cheering ourselves while riding bicycle. My hubby ride on front while I was sitting on the rear side. Really love this picture and the moment especially since I leave Jakarta and move to a tiny village on other island. This “big city moment” was romantic :)

And the sketch, super-fun. I’m free to turn it left-right-upside-and-down. The result is same: Fun. So I kinda twist the sketch, but I hope you can still see it.

Onto some close-ups:
I’m using Webster’s Page Clean&Simple as background and Bo Bunny Ambrosia Marigold as part of my embellishment.
Ribbon flower along the pictures and I put a painted owl chipboard at the end.

These are real flowers. They were dried so they can last long as an embellishment. I love it but unfortunately this is my only flower left :(

For this bold colors layout, I chose to put some bold-little-flowers. They were made from recycled materials and I bought them from local store. Handmade by local crafters :)

The title: all smiles. I’m smiling, hubby’s smiling.

Don’t forget to submit your layout. The deadline is May 31st. Please kindly click Sketches in Thyme challenge blog and you can see the works from our super-talented Mavens. Happy crafting dear fellas. See ya :)

I also would like to enter this page for:

And this sketch with filmstrip photos is happen a little bit similar with Frosted designs sketch #41. So I also enter my take. Here's their sketch, can you find the same fun? I doooo!!

We see we feel: Love

Hello crafty fellas,
How's your weekend? Oh I can hear your laugh and clap and hurray scream, it sounds soooo great! Me too. Tomorrow, we plan to have a little picnic. Me, hubby, and some close friends. Fish grill in the lake side. What will be more fantastic? But before that, I got a page to post.

I've been keeping these pictures for long. We were having lunch in a small cafe and took a shot on ourselves. It's like we were starring to something up there. High angle photograph. I really love this picture but haven't find the right theme to scrap. Now I am! With (almost) white paper and green accent, I put the photos and embellish them with ribbon flower, flowers, chipboard, then spray my mist. Here's what I end up with:

I never thought Little Yellow Bicycle's Paradise series can go beyond "fun" page. It's a very happy-go-round set of papers but I challenge myself to make it more shabby style :) Hope you like it.

Let's go to some details

That's us, framed with un-accent oval chipboard. I circle the chipboard with gauze bandage and ribbon flower that I buy from a local online scrapbooking shop.

Take a closer look on my ribbon flower. Very sweet, right?

Lately I struck with hexagons fever. So I buy The Crafter's Workhop Chickenwire template and go crazy about it! With Tattered Angel's glimmer mist Driftwood, I spray my template to match with green hexagons of the pattern paper in the middle. And I spritz Italian Sunset glimmer mist to some spots of my background paper.

Chipboards are everywhere :) Love them all!

Prima flowers and leaves form a local market.

The title: We see we feel love.

Got to go for preparing tomorrow's soup, fellas. Have a fantabulous weekend. Happy crafting :)

Sketches in Thyme Thursday Take #78

Hellooooo,
Finally. My first take as Sketches in Thyme's Maven. So excited about this. To celebrate this lifetime moment...LOL..I made a layout about one of the sweetest moment of my daily life: Weekend.

I crave for weekend. It's my crafty time, relax time, books time, and for sure....vacation :)
In my place, destination is easy to find. The sun shine all day long even sometimes it rains a little but weather definitely not an obstacle. And I just need to travel about 2 kilometers to dip myself into Southeast Asia's deepest lake: Lake Matano. If I'm in the mood for wood, I just pick the nearest hill and climb. There's a "mini zoo" also, with endemic animal and plant collections. Or I can hop on to a traditional boat and travel to the next island.

Yes. I love weekend.

And one day, me, my hubby, and some friends rent a fisherman's boat. That boat called "katingting" here. The rent cost IDR100,000 or about USD12 one way. And we spent about 40 minutes riding on a boat to the neighbor island, called Nuha Island. It was a wonderful journey. Sparkling blue water all over the eye, clear bright sky, and wind breeze. We stop once to swim! Oh I really love that day :)

Here's my the sketch and my take:

Using Bazzill's Wayfarer Tourist and Traveler. This bold colors caught me in the eye :)

Some details:
Yup, that's me. On the boat :)

Pink paper doilies from a local online scrapbooking store.

The title: Swet saturday. Yes. Weekend.

See you around crafty fellas. Don't forget to submit your LO, the deadline is May 31st. Plenty of time, right?
